While most dogs will happily snack on regular canine treats, Popeye, a starving stray turned foodie dog feast on LA’s best cuisines.
Popeye was found wandering the streets of LA, she was starving and very skinny when Ivy Diep decided to take him home. He hit it off with her husband and other family dogs.
One day, Popeye tagged along with Ivy on one of her ‘Instagram dates’ where she and a friend would try new restaurants and document them on Instagram.
Ivy quickly realized that Popeye was very polite during the dinner, “I would bring Popeye to any of the pet-friendly places, and we realized how good he was around food,” she told ABC News. “He would sit still for photos.”
So Ivy decided to bring him along more, and he started making regular appearances in her Instagram pictures, so she decided to make him his own page, Popeye the Foodie Dog.
The page, dedicated to his culinary adventures shows photographs of Popeye in the most trendy of LA restaurants, from fast food to steak and sushi.
Although it looks like he is about to eat these human meals, that is not the case:
“We’ll give him nibbles of anything that’s safe for him,” she explains. “We always carry a bag of his favorite treats as well. He’s usually not really into the food anyway. He just likes to be out and about—people watching and to bark at any other dog that walks by.”
