This golden possum may look as close as we may come to Pikachu, but it thankfully doesn’t have any of the Pokemon’s abilities.
A rare golden possum has been saved from death by a good Samaritan over in Melbourne, Australia
The brushtail possum was found lying on the side of the road and is believed to be around five months old.
It may have fallen off its mother’s back before it was found by a member of the public and taken to a local veterinary clinic for care.
Born with a genetic mutation related to abinism, its bright colour scheme has earned it a very fitting name, Pikachu.
The mutation is such that results in low levels of melanin, meaning that instead of its fur being brown, it’s turned out gold.
Pikachu won’t be released back into the wild, because her bright fur would make her an easy target for predators.
