Stray Dog Adopted By Gas Station Rushes To The Rescue Of Staff During Armed Robbery

Meet Randy, rescued a few years back as a skinny, fearful stray by staff at a gas station in Mexico

Randy showed clear signs of mistreatment, and despite him always showing up at the gas station, it took a little while to gain his trust.

Randy the stray dog and a gas station

“We fed him, bathed him, and got him vaccinated,” Gerardo Aguilar, the station’s owner, told The Dodo. “We adopted him. Now he lives here, and is cared for by all the workers.”

They rescued him and gave him everything he needed, but little did they know the heroic way that Randy would repay them.

One day, two armed robbers attempted to attack one of the attendants on duty, demanding to open the office where all the money is kept.

Thankfully for him, he wasn’t alone.

Clearly awoken by all the commotion, Randy came storming over to get the robbers off his friend and chase them away.

Here’s that stunning moment captured on the gas stations surveillance:

“We were surprised to see how he reacted, and of course we are proud of him,” said Aguilar.

“If it weren’t for Randy, who knows how things would have ended. He shows us how grateful and happy he is with us.”

Randy is amazing! And when he’s not saving lives, he’s making people happy too!

The Dodo spoke to a frequent customer of the gas station named Nuria Arellano who specifically chooses that location so she can see Randy.

She hopes more places are inspired to hire stray dogs like Randy.

“He makes it a better experience. I always call him, and he gets in the door of my truck and brings his face to mine,” Arellano said.

“It would be wonderful if the culture changed and there were more rescued puppies at other gas stations and other stores. Let’s hope this happens one day.”

She hopes that Randy’s story inspires more businesses to adopt a stray, after all, it seems like they’re good for business!
