The video, which has gone viral after resurfacing on Twitter, shows an endearing reunion between two monkey siblings who were separated in captivity
The clip begins with two monkey brothers who are clearly overjoyed to see each other after again such a long period apart. The chimps embrace and kiss one other at their reunion.
“Rescued from captivity, these two brothers were separated for treatment in two different locations. After they recovered, they were reunited,” it said in the video’s description.
According to reports, the two newborn chimps were freed from captivity and taken in for care by two separate NGOs (non-governmental organizations).
The two brothers were reunited as soon as the rescuers realized they should be kept together. When they eventually recovered and reconnected after a lengthy separation, they instantly recognized each other.
When the chimps were rescued, it’s unknown why they had to be separated. It’s possible that poachers kidnapped the two children from their mother.
However, it is apparent that the NGOs who took them in did an excellent job of assisting them in their recovery.
