Meet Lana, a happy-go-lucky puppy who at only 8 months old, knows the importance of kindness.
Rescued from the streets of Brazil at a young age with her siblings, Lana was soon adopted into the loving home of Suelen Schaumloeffel.
Despite having a loving, safe and comfortable home, Lana hasn’t forgotten what it’s like for those pups who unfortunately don’t.
One cold winters day, Schaumloeffel bought Lana a thick blanket to keep her warm in her doghouse which was out the front of the house.
It wasn’t until the next morning when she realized the beautiful act of kindness Lana had done. She sacrificed her own comfort for a stray pup on the other side of the fence.
Lana had dragged her blanket outside so she could share it with a stray dog on a chilly winters night.
Apparently, Schaumloeffel had seen the stray near their house the day before, but he ran away when she tried to check him for an ID tag.
Although he didn’t seem to run from Lana, “I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend,’” Schaumloeffel told The Dodo.
“My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!”
Since then, despite not being able to get close to the stray, they have been leaving him out food and water, just like Lana would if she could.
“She is the nicest little dog I’ve ever met. We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone’s life. She reminded me of this.”
