Whales are some of the largest animals to ever exist, and humpback whales are no exception.
But this small fact didn’t weigh down this acrobatic humpback whale who was filmed in the video below putting on an incredible air display after leaping out of the water:
On average, a fully grown adult can weigh around 36,000 kg, thats the same weight as 6 of the biggest land mammal, the elephant!
This video was taken off the coat of Mbotyi in the Indian Ocean by a scuba diver called Craig Capehart.
He was only sitting on a ‘rubber duck’ inflatable boat before the aquatic acrobat decided to perform its trick. The whale really was graceful regardless of its enormous size.
“It seems that never before has a recording been made of an adult humpback whale leaping entirely out of the water! A very rare event, indeed,” wrote Craig in the caption accompanying the video. “Dolphins and even Great White Sharks have been seen flying out of the water, but this is a first for an adult humpback whale!”
