Shelter Dog Saves Best Friend Hours Before Euthanasia After Hug Goes Viral

Kala and Keira are two shelter dogs based in Atlanta, in the ‘Angels Among Us‘ pet rescue, were only hours from certain death by euthanasia. This was because no one wanted to adopt them, even though they were loving and well-trained pups. Time was running out for the pups, so the volunteers at the shelter attempted one last time to find them a new home by sharing a photo of the pair hugging.

Kala and Keira were hours from death, but this hug saved their lives

“I’m Kala. This is Keira. We’re so scared in here. The people working in the shelters see how scared we are but just told each other that today is our deadline. If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me. I’ll see her as she goes down the hallway. She won’t come back and I’ll cry. They’ll come for me next, and I won’t be as brave,” they wrote in the caption.

Two hours and six minutes after it was shared, the viral pic found them a foster home

Their photo shared by ‘Angels Among Us’, a pet rescue in Georgia that saves dogs and cats from other high-kill shelters, along with their heartfelt plea, helped get the message out and save them. The photo sent a powerful message. There are many other dogs just like them that need your help!

They’ve proven that miracles DO happen!
