A photographer has captured the remarkable moment a young lion cub stands up on its two hind legs to give its mom a kiss.
It was taken at Hwange Park in Zimbabwe by a photographer named Julia Sundukova who says the moment was even more extraordinary by the level of intimacy between the cub and its mother.
She goes on to describe the encounter saying:
“The lioness with the collar was the mother of the cub she played with. There were no males around, so it was interesting to observe how the cubs play and interact with the female.”
“This is one of the most fun and interesting lessons of nature to me,” she added. “Even though lions were a bit far from the road I was so happy to spend the whole of golden hour with them until the sun went down.”
The Hwange Park is Zimbabwe’s biggest national park and according to Discover Africa, it is “one of Africa’s top national parks.”
The 5,800 square mile park is home to hundreds of species of mammals and birds, more than any park in the country.
