Staying at hotels while traveling can be lonely, but this hotel in Mississippi lets you foster a dog for the duration of your stay.

The hotel named Home2Suites by Hilton partnered up with the local Humane Society of South Mississippi to start the program, Fostering Hope.

The best part is that if the guest falls in love with their foster dog, they can take them home!

Guests will choose a pup of their choice to take care of during their stay, the pup will then join them in their rooms.

Not only does this help with pup adoption, but also frees up space at the shelter for new arrivals.

The good people at the Humane Society of South Mississippi accept around eight thousand dogs every year and only around 80% of them are adopted.

Thanks to this new program, more dogs than ever are being adopted, thanks to their foster parents being able to take them for a ‘test run’ before choosing to adopt.

With most bookings at the hotel being longer than a month, this hotel is the perfect place for this kind of program.

Teresa Johnston is the hotel’s sales director, and is responsible for this ingenious idea.

“People love animals and we have many guest that decide to stay at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D’Iberville because of this program,” said Theresa.

Of course, the shelter has the right to deny anyone an adoption, to ensure the pups go to the right home.

Staff at the hotel have even adopted some of the pups for themselves!

Now if only every pet-friendly hotel would take part in this program or ones similar, the burden would be reduced for many animal shelters.
