Jack is a police horse who has been working for the Merseyside Police in the UK for the last 15 years.
He starts each and every day the exact same way, with a cup of lovely sugary tea.
The 20-year-old horse is fed this each morning and won’t start the day without one, watch the big boy enjoying one here:
He’s included in the station’s tea round and even has skimmed milk instead of full fat, as he is trying to remain health-conscious.
He loves sugar and having his tea not too hot so the staff would put cold water in the cup to avoid Jack from burning his tongue.
Lindsey Gaven who is the mounted section manager and trainer for the Merseyside police says:
Jake is one of 12 horses we’ve got at the stable working with us.
I’d definitely describe Jake as a horse with a lot of character. We’ve all learnt his tea order – he’ll deal with one sugar, but is definitely happier when you remember to give him two.
If you’re at the side of the stable and he sees you with a mug in your hand, you can guarantee he’ll trot on over to try and steal a slurp.
Jake is often occupied with his responsibilities in the force which include sports games such as football matched and horse racing.
As he is 20 years old, which is pretty old for a stallion, his time in the police force is due to come to an end shortly.
