The footage shows the baby crawling towards the stairs before the Siamese cat leaped up and stopped him from causing serious injury.
While one-year-old Samuel Leon was crawling towards the stairs, he looked back at the cat perched on the sofa.
He turns back around and continues to crawl across the room, prompting the cat to move closer towards the edge of the sofa.
As the newborn reached the edge of the stairs, the cat launches into action, and jumped in his way while tugging at the baby.
The kitty scrambles in front of the baby, seemlingly in a panic while trying to pull little Samuel away from the steep drop.
The kitty wraps his paws across Samuel’s body in an attempt to force him backwards, while also pecking at the toddlers hair.
The toddler looks like he gets the message as he slowly moves away from the steep drop.
He sits on the floor of the living room while the hero cat stays by his side to keep an eye on him.
