Golden Retriever Saves Woodchuck From Lake And Gives Adorable Goodbye Kiss

Meet Wally, a kind golden retriever who made an unlikely friend during a dip in a lake in Massachusetts.

He swam out into the lake and came back with a passenger on his back. It was a woodchuck that appeared to have been “in distress or just lazy.”

Thankfully the moment was captured on camera by his human Lauren Russell.

“He was about 100 meters out, and a woodchuck I think just crawled right up on his back, and he swam back to shore with him,” she said. “We were flabbergasted. It was unbelievable. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing.”

Apparently Wally didn’t mind at all that the woodchuck was using him like a boat. He noticed him, but continued his swim.

But that wasn’t all, when they returned to shore he and his new friend even gave each other a little kiss goodbye.

See the video below:

“It came back to the island, hopped off his back, and then scurried away, and they gave each other a little kiss goodbye,” said Russell. “They like touched snouts, and then he ran away.”

Apparently this action for Wally, just like most golden retrievers, wasn’t unusual.

“He’s just an angel. He loves all animals. He loves little kids, people, you know, it doesn’t get better than Wally,” she said.
