Firefighters Rescue Dog From Frozen Pond in NY

After walking on thin ice and falling into a chilly pond at Siwanoy Country Club, a large husky named Jax was rescued by Eastchester firefighters.

While playing with some of his canine friends on the golf course, Jax fell through the ice and got stuck toward the centre of the frozen pond.

The union said firefighters arrived at the country club around 11 a.m.

In cold water suits and using specialized ice water rescue equipment, they were able to escort Jax safely to shore.

In a video shared by the union, firefighter Domenick DiRienzo swam toward the center of the frozen pond and took Jax under an arm to help him swim back to land.

Upon his return to land Jax received a warm welcome with blankets and praise from his owners. He is expected to make a full recovery, the department said.

Capt. Phil Pinto and firefighters William Cirrincione, Paul Keindl, Vincent Debitetto and Anthony Piliero helped DiRienzo bring Jax to safety, the union said.
