Watch the terrifying strategy the cougar aggressively chased him away:
“My adrenaline was pumping so much,” the hiker reflected afterwards,” “It was cool, exciting and then it’s like, ‘What do I do?’” he said.
Cougars are beautiful and dangerous
Burgess was lucky he came across a smart and level-headed big cat. As you can see from the video, this cougar was careful.
In a professional-like manner she saw this hiker off her territory, protecting her kittens, while not putting herself in danger.
Female cougars can weigh up to 64kgs (151lbs) and can reach a top speed of 80kmp (64mph). This allows her to do considerable damage to a human, if she so chose.
Cougars have a diverse ability that has allowed them to thrive in the wild. They are solitary by nature, nocturnal and crepuscular (come out during low-light environment), and eat everything from deers to insects .
